In an effort to improve our services and awareness of our programs in the community, we make it a top priority to recruit new members and to encourage current members to renew their yearly membership. We have many more supporters than we have dues-paying members, and we appreciate each and every person – being involved in OLHS doesn’t require membership. However, membership dues help support our programs and a large membership base boosts our presence in the local community. Members are also of great assistance when we lobby animal welfare issues at the local, state, and federal level.
Without charitable gifts, we would not exist. Membership fees will enable us to better care for the thousands of homeless and abandoned dogs and cats we receive each year.
Memberships are available at $10, $15, $25, $45 and $100 per year. Gift memberships are also available. All memberships are tax deductible. Membership dues include an annual subscription to The Paw Print newsletter, recognition in the OLHS Annual Report, invitations to OLHS events, e-mail updates on important events concerning animal welfare in our community, and a 10% discount on animal adoptions at the shelter. Members can vote at the annual general membership meeting held in February, can serve on the OLHS Board of Directors if elected, and can serve on committees. In essence, members have a more direct voice in the activities and future of the OLHS.
Every individual plays an integral part in our success. Please become a member or renew your membership to Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society. We express to you our gratitude if you are already a member and ask your help in recruiting others to join. Membership is an important key to attaining the goals we aspire to on behalf of the many homeless pets in our community. Together, we form a powerful and effective partnership for animal welfare in Oxford and Lafayette County.
The membership year runs from October 1 to September 30.
